Things to Know About Friendship Village of Schaumburg:

  • The Largest Continuing Care Retirement Community in Illinois, offering adults 62 plus a life care contract providing maintenance-free living and future health care benefits. The community offers three residential living neighborhoods with wellness programs, five dining venues and an array of services, plus access to assisted living, skilled care and memory support services on-site if ever needed.
  • A not-for-profit organization operated by Friendship Senior Options, a Schaumburg-based not-for-profit overseen by a volunteer board of directors. Friendship Senior Options also is developing a new Continuing Care Retirement Community called GreenFields of Geneva.
  • Of more than 2,250 Continuing Care Retirement Communities in the U.S., Friendship Village is 15th largest. With opening of our newest residential living neighborhood, Bridgewater Place, Friendship Village has regained a national leadership position.
  • When fully occupied, Friendship Village will be home to more than 1,000 adults 62 plus. The community now offers 629 apartment homes; 28 garden homes; 99 assisted living apartment homes, including 25 with memory support services; and 250 skilled care accommodations, both private and shared.
  • Once someone makes the decision to come to Friendship Village, they're essentially set for life. They will have access to whatever care they might need, and meanwhile they are surrounded by conveniences that can help them "age successfully."
  • Friendship Village is a community within the Schaumburg community, with a full-service Alexian Physician Center, full-service Chase Bank and ATM, privately operated spa and salon, convenience store, and five dining venues including a casual dining establishment with that serves beer, wine and spirits. Residents pay one monthly fee that includes housekeeping, all interior and exterior maintenance, all utilities except telephone, free cable TV, courtesy transportation, a security system, concierge services and a full array of programming.
  • With about 625 associates, Friendship Village is Schaumburg's 10th largest employer. Many associates serve in hospitality-related or health-care positions. Year after year, the turnover rate among Friendship Village's health-care employees is well under statewide averages.
  • Friendship Village is located on 60 acres, encompassing three ponds and a five-acre heritage forest remnant that in 2007 was accepted as part of the Chicago Wilderness nature reserve.
  • Friendship Village generates annual revenues of $37-39 million, which includes earnings on investments, contributions and fees generated from residents.
  • Friendship Village was the first Continuing Care Retirement Community in Illinois to earn accreditation from the Continuing Care Accreditation Commission and remains one of only two communities in the Northwest Suburbs to be accredited. We just earned our fourth five-year re-accreditation earlier this year.
  • Unlike many newer communities, Friendship Village's living accommodations and pricing plans can accommodate a wide range of budgets. Monthly service fees start at $1,268 for a studio apartment and top out at $2,880 for a two-bedroom apartment home in Bridgewater Place. Entrance fees begin at $65,000, rising to $337,200 for a garden home. The community offers 100 percent, 90 percent and 50 percent refundable entrance fee plans plus rental plans.
  • Friendship Village is on a path of growth and development, In addition to our new community in Geneva, we are also beginning an exploration of how we will continue repositioning our "mother ship" in Schaumburg for future generations of older adults. In conjunction with this, we also are taking a look at new service arenas that might be a good fit for the talents and expertise we're developing.
